Lots of people today have very busy schedules, with lots of places to be and things to do. This leads to one of the biggest problems in food today: snacking. Most people are too busy to sit down and have three meals a day, so they grab quick and easy snacks throughout the day. Unfortunately, usually these snacks are unhealthy. I bet many of us will grab a bag of chips on the way out the door rather than something healthy like fruit. This style of eating is not good for your body, especially if you are an athlete. So, if you have this problem, I am going to give you a few different ideas of healthy snacks.
Nut and Seed Mix:
If you like different kinds of nuts, this is a great, healthy snack that you can eat on the go. It’s packed with protein and will fill you up right away.
You will need…
1 cup hazelnuts
1 cup pecans
1 cup almonds
1 cup walnuts
¼ cup shredded coconut
½ cup dried papaya pieces
½ cup hulled pumpkin seeds
½ sunflower seeds
1 cup raisins
Handful of flax seeds
Mix all of these ingredients together in a bowl and tada! A great snack that you can eat whenever you want. Of course, if you don’t like one of these ingredients, you can always leave them out.
Taking smoothies on the go is super easy and delicious! They are super healthy and are a nutritious source of antioxidants. This recipe is for a mango-berry smoothie, but you can change the type of fruit you want.
Blend all of these ingredients together until smooth and you’ll have a delicious smoothie that you can take on the go or enjoy on your front porch on a sunny morning.
Veggies are always a great snack to have! My favorites are cucumbers and carrots. They have little packages of vegetables that you can buy at grocery stores, which are easy to take in the car or to school. If you can, I think having fresh vegetables tastes better. Just pick your favorite veggies and put them in a bag! I love being able to grab some vegetables when I’m hungry but I have somewhere to be. It’s so easy and so healthy!
