Fruit Pizza!

Recently, I learned how to make fruit pizza and it is DELICIOUS, so I am going teach everyone how to make it! It’s a very simple recipe and is great for holidays or parties. There  are two ways to make the pizza and I will post both so all of the options are available.

What you will need:

  • One 8 oz package of cream cheese
  • Two cups frozen whipped topping (cool whip)
  • One t. Vanilla extract
  • One cup powdered sugar
  • 16 oz package strawberries (or how many ever you need), hulled and sliced
  • 12.75 oz package of strawberry glaze (optional)

There are two ways to make the crust. You can either home make it (the recipe will be provided below) or you can just use cookie dough, I prefer to you Pillsbury sugar cookie dough. If you prefer to be more creative and make your own crust, here is the recipe:

Homemade pizza crust:

  • ½ cup margarine
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • ¼ cup oatmeal

Bring the margarine and brown sugar to a boil and then stir in the oatmeal and flour. Spread the mix into a pizza pan and bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Let the crust cool for at least 30 minutes.

If you are lazy, like me, I would recommend using Pillsbury sugar cookie dough, which tastes great with the spread that goes on top. You will need a 16 oz tube, or larger depending on how thick you want your crust. Spread the cookie dough in a 12 inch pizza pan and bake at 350 degrees for 16-20 minutes or until golden brown. While your pizza crust, start on the spread! Start by putting the one cup powdered sugar, one teaspoon of vanilla extract, two cups of thawed frozen whipped topping, and the 8 oz package of cream cheese in a large bowl. I recommend letting the cream cheese soften before mixing because it makes the spread lighter and easier to mix. To mix, I would use an egg beater in order to get the spread thoroughly mixed.Once the crust has cooled and the spread is ready, take the spread and place all around the pizza crust like you would tomato sauce for regular pizza. Make sure it is evenly spread out so you get an even taste throughout your pizza.

Once the spread is on the crust, it’s time for toppings! Now, there are two ways to approach this step. One option is using the strawberry glaze. If you use this, I would recommend only putting strawberries on your pizza because the strawberry glaze only enhances the taste and sweetness of the strawberries. Just spread the glaze all over the top of the original spread and then cover the entire pizza with sliced strawberries! If you choose not to use the glaze, you can add any fruit topping you like! I recommend sticking to berries (examples being raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, etc.). This option has a lot more variety with toppings, but both types of pizza are delicious.

This recipe is perfect for any special occasion or just a treat on a warm day and I definitely recommend trying this at home. For anyone who doesn’t like cream cheese; I don’t either! However, when I tried this, it was my one exception to eat cream cheese because it was so good.  Feel free to leave any questions about the recipe below in the comments section, Enjoy!
